The Alaika Group was established by Felister Mulee Joseph in April 2023 and officially registered in September of the same year. This initiative was born from a deep understanding of community needs, gained through Felister's dedicated work and industrial attachment at the office of the Assistant Chief in Upper Kiandani Sub-location. During this period, she engaged directly with community members, participated in conflict resolution, and attended crucial forums such as village barazas, public participation sessions, and security meetings. These interactions, alongside representatives like Community Health Promoters, Nyumba Kumi officials, and village elders, provided invaluable insights into the pressing challenges faced by the youth and the broader community.

The primary issues identified included widespread computer illiteracy, the pervasive problem of drug and substance abuse, a significant lack of youth empowerment programs, systemic youth marginalization, and limited financial support hindering access to higher education. Recognizing these critical gaps, The Alaika Group was founded with a clear vision to address these multifaceted challenges head-on, fostering holistic development within the community.
